RECENT NOTABLE ACTIVITY – TELEMEDICINE

  • Fruit Street Telehealth Raises $3M and Expands Oversubscribed Series A to $4M of Equity Financing. Link
  • Indofash, an ethnic marketplace, has raised Rs 1 crore ($145k) in angel funding from Shekhar Sahu and Nitesh Pant, co-founders of telemedicine company HealthcareMagic. Link
  • Third Eye Health, a telemedicine startup that has focused on applying its platform to telestroke and other use cases, has raised just over $1 million, according to a Form D filing. Link
  • Encounter Telehealth, an Omaha, Nebraska-based telepsychiatry startup that wants to improve access to psychological services for underserved communities, is raising roughly $1 million, according to a Form D filing on the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission’s website. Link
  • Propeller Health, a mobile platform and sensor for respiratory health management, raised $21.5M in Series C round of funding from new investors 3M Ventures, S.R. One, Limited and Hikma Ventures, and existing investors Safeguard Scientifics and Social Capital. Link
  • PlushCare, the direct-to-consumer telehealth company, raises $8M in Series A financing led by GGV Capital. Link
  • Avizia, a telehealth solution provider, raises additional $6M to Close $17M Series A funding round led by HealthQuest Capital. Link
  • Smartlink Mobile Systems, a mobile application for patient-doctor communication and e-commerce transactions, raises $2.5M in Seed funding round. Link
  • Virtudent, a teledentistry solution, raised $2M in Seed round of funding led by Sparta Group, the investment office of Desh Deshpande. Link
  • Third Eye Health, a telemedicine startup that has focused on applying its platform to telestroke and other use cases, has raised over $1 million. Link
  • Satchel Health, a company that offers telehealth and remote monitoring solutions for post-acute care providers, raised $1M in Angel round of funding led by NueCura Partners. Link

HealSpace (2015, Hyderabad) – HealSpace is developing healthcare AI companion which checks the symptom of patients and let them speak to the right doctor. The company will be adding features like patient health record storage, medical insights for doctors for their clinical decision making in the future.

Teladoc (2002, Dallas, IPO) – Telemedicine provider offering web and mobile based video consultation. Backed by Cardinal Partners, HLM Venture Partners, Trident Capital, New Capital Partners, Jafco Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Greenspring Associates, BNY Mellon, Questmark Partners, FLAG Capital Management. Went public in July 2015.
Ping An Good Doctor (2014, Shenzhen, $500M) – Online platform to consult doctors remotely.
Chunyu Yisheng (2011, Beijing, $244M) –  App that lets users remotely consult with physicians. Backed by Blue Run Ventures, China International Capital Corporation Limited (CICC), Rushan Investment Management and Pavilion Capital.
Specialists On Call (2004, Reston, $182M) – Telemedicine services for Tele-Neurology, Tele-Psychiatry and Tele-Intensivist. Backed by Warburg Pincus.
American Well (2006, Boston, $123M) – Telehealth platform that connects users with doctors. Backed by Inventure Partners.
Doctor On Demand (2012, SF, $87M) – Telemedicine services based on a pay-per-use model. Backed by Venrock, Shasta Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures.
MDLIVE (2009, Sunrise, $74M) – Online and on-demand telemedicine services. Backed by Bedford Funding, Heritage Group, Sutter Health, Kanye Capital.

iRhythm Technologies (2006, SF, $106M) Remote cardiac rhythm monitoring device. Backed by Mohr Davidow Ventures.

Watermark Medical (2008, Boca Raton, $53M) Home sleep testing solutions to determine presence and severity of obstructive sleep apnea. Merged with SleepMed. Backed by Ballast Point Ventures.
MD Revolution (2011, San Diego, $43M) Platform for healthcare providers to predict and prevent chronic disease via behavior change. Backed by Jump Capital.
