RECENT NOTABLE ACTIVITY – TELEMEDICINE

  • Chunyu Yisheng, a smartphone marketplace app that lets users remotely consult with physicians, completed a $183M funding round. Link
  • Teladoc, a provider of telehealth services, secures $50M in Debt financing from Silicon Valley Bank. Link
  • MindCare Solutions, a provider of behavioral health care services through a telemedicine platform, raised $19M in Series A round of funding. Link
  • Aligned Telehealth, a telemedicine and healthcare management company, closed a Series A equity funding of $12M. Link
  • Avizia, a telehealth solution provider offering an end-to-end platform, raised $11M in Series A round of funding led by Blue Heron Capital and joined by Lavrock Ventures, NextGen Venture Partners, Middleland Capital, Waterline Capital, and Blu Ventures. Link
  • 39 Hospital, a secondary diagnosis and consultation platform for severe problems via telemedicine application, raised $7.5M in Series A round of funding led by IDG Ventures. Link
  • SnapMD, a cloud-based patient-to-provider telemedicine platform, raised $1.5M in Series A round. Link
  • YourDost, an online counselling and psychological support platform, raised $1.2M in Series A round of funding led by SAIF Partners. Link
  • SeeDoc, a mobile-based telemedicine platform which provides patients access to a network of doctors, raised $1M in its pre-Series A round of funding led by early stage venture fund YourNest, Sunil Goyal, founder and CEO, YourNest Angel Fund. Link
  • TeleHealth 365, a cloud-based video conferencing solution for healthcare providers and their patients, received an angel round of funding from a private investor. Link
  • HelathiestYou, a telehealth consumer engagement technology platform for the small to mid-sized employer market, got acquired by Teladoc for $125M. Link

SOME INTERESTING STARTUPS FOUND

Coordination Centric (2015, McAllen) – Monitor chronic conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension, Chronic Heart Failure & COPD and relays this information to their health care providers. Vitals are measured using at home monitoring devices and the results are sent to the health care coordinator via a cellular gateway.

Teladoc (2002, Dallas, IPO) – Telemedicine provider offering web and mobile based video consultation. Backed by Cardinal Partners, HLM Venture Partners, Trident Capital, New Capital Partners, Jafco Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Greenspring Associates, BNY Mellon, Questmark Partners, FLAG Capital Management. Went public in July 2015.
Specialists On Call (2004, Reston, $132M) – Telemedicine services for Tele-Neurology, Tele-Psychiatry and Tele-Intensivist. Backed by Warburg Pincus.
American Well (2006, Boston, $123M) – Telehealth platform that connects users with doctors. Backed by Inventure Partners.
Doctor On Demand (2012, SF, $87M) – Telemedicine services based on a pay-per-use model. Backed by Venrock, Shasta Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures.
MDLIVE (2009, Sunrise, $74M) – Online and on-demand telemedicine services. Backed by Bedford Funding, Heritage Group, Sutter Health, Kanye Capital.

iRhythm Technologies (2006, SF, $95M) Remote cardiac rhythm monitoring device. Backed by Mohr Davidow Ventures.
Watermark Medical (2008, Boca Raton, $53M) Home sleep testing solutions to determine presence and severity of obstructive sleep apnea. Merged with SleepMed. Backed by Ballast Point Ventures.
MD Revolution (2011, San Diego, $34M) Platform for healthcare providers to predict and prevent chronic disease via behaviour change. Backed by Jump Capital.
Healthsense (2001, Mendota, $33M) Remote monitoring, emergency calls and wellness management solutions. Backed by Radius Ventures, Merck & Co., Mansa Capital, Merck Global Health Innovation Fund.

Tele-Rehabilitation
Pursuant Health (2007, Atlanta, $29M) Interactive healthcare platforms and kiosks. Backed by WellPoint, Novartis, Dell, Coinstar.

Tech Enablers
InTouch Health (2002, Santa Barbara, $64M) Proprietary communications and mobile robotic platform. Backed by Acacia VP, iRobot, Beringea.
