  • Nima, formerly known as 6SensorLabs, the designer and manufacturer of smartphone-enabled allergen testing IoT, has raised $9.2M in a round led by Foundry Group with participation from Upfront Ventures, SoftTech VC, SK Ventures, Lemnos Labs, and Matt Rogers, the founder of Nest. Link 
  • Clover Health, an internet-first direct-to-individual insurance tech company, has raised a round worth of $160M from Greenoaks Capital with participation from existing backers Sequoia Capital and First Round Capital. Link
  • Ping An Good Doctor, an Online-to-offline (O2O) healthcare servicing platform, has raised $500M in a round led by investors, including international private equity funds, Chinese state-owned enterprises on the Fortune 500 list, finance corporations as well as internet companies. Link
  • Sensifree, a developer of contact-free, electromagnetic sensors for continuous monitoring of body vitals, has raised $5M in a round led by TransLink Capital, UMC Capital, and an undisclosed strategic investor. Link
  • EarlySense, the developer of contactless bedside body vitals monitor, has raised $25 million in new funding in a round led by Bank Hapoalim, Pitango Venture Capital, JK&B Capital, and other previous investors. Link 
  • Medella Health, the developer of contact lenses for continuous and non-invasive monitoring of glucose levels, has raised $1.4M in a round led by 1517 Fund, Fifty Years Fund, Garage Capital, BDC Capital and others.  Link
  • DocPlanner, an online doctor appointment booking startup, has raised $20M in a round led by Target Global, ENERN Investments, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Also merged with Spain’s Doctoralia. Link
  • RetraceHealth, a home, and video doctor visit provider, has raised $6.5M in a round led by Lemhi Ventures. Link
  • OrbiMed, a global investment firm focused on the healthcare sector, closed its second Israel-focused venture capital fund, at approximately $307M. Link
  • Canary Health, a startup that uses digital health tools to help populations prevent and manage chronic diseases, has acquired stress management app company bLife for an undisclosed amount. Link
  • European Commission has published first draft guidelines for assessing the validity and reliability of data that is collected and processed by health and wellbeing apps. Link
  • Sensoria, a textile sensor company, has launched a new app, called Sensoria Walk, which helps users track their activity during rehabilitation after a stroke or post-surgery. Link
  • Patanjali, an Indian FMCG company, is planning to enter in digital health startup space after FMCG space. Link
  • Practice Fusion alums developing iBeat, wearable personal emergency response system (PERS) device. Link
  • Samsung announced the spinning off of one of the device concepts it showed off at CES this year, Welt – a smart belt. Link

It collects individual personal health information from multiple data sources and links those events to micro-services. Each micro-services is a transaction, and with their point of sale system, they earn a commission or wholesale spread on each completed transaction. A subscription-based service for clients.

Your.MD (2013, London, $7M) – Mobile app which uses AI and Machine Learning technology to give personalized feedback to individuals as they speak or type their query. Backed by Smedvig.

Dayima (2012, Beijing, $66M) – App for period tracking and women’s health. It predicts period cycles based on past patterns, offering health tips on avoiding cramps and premenstrual syndromes, and links to an online forum where users can exchange their experiences on parenting, beauty, etc. Backed by By-Health, Haitong, BAI, Ce Yun Ventures, Sequoia, and ZhenFund.

TelCare (2008, Bethesda, $63.5M) – Provides a wireless blood glucose meter with two-way messaging, that transmits to a care management server, along with a suite of iPhone and Android apps. Backed by Qualcomm Ventures and Sequoia.
